Q: What is the difference between a Prestige Pass and a Marquee Pass?

Q: Can somebody else pick-up my pass purchase?
A: When you purchase your pass(es)/ticket(s) online, you have the ability to tell us who else is authorized to pick them up on your behalf. That person must have a copy of your receipt and government issued I.D. to present at the time of pick-up.
Q: If I have pre-registered for the festival. How late can I pick-up my pass when I arrive into Miami?
A: Registration traditionally closes at 6 pm daily (with the exception of Saturday when it closes at 12 noon). If you are pre-registered for the festival, ABFF does have will call service through 9:30 pm on the first and second days of the festival only (June 20 and June 21). You cannot enter any festival event without a pass or ticket, so if you plan to attend evening events on the day that you arrive to the festival, you must make appropriate flight arrangements to enable you to get to the Festival Registration Center within these hours. Please refer to the festival's Event Schedule for the full operating hours of the Registration Center.
Q: Will there be any passes or tickets on sale on-site at the festival in Miami?
A: Pre-registration is encouraged as passes and tickets on sale at the festival are limited. Opening Night Film and the Closing Awards Presentation and Reception typically sell out in advance.

Q: What is the ABFF's host hotel?
A: This year's host hotel will be announced November 1
Q: Does the ABFF have any other hotel partners?
A: Yes. The festival will have several hotel partners beginning with the host hotel announcement November 1. Visit the 'Plan Your Trip' section of our Website for the latest updates.
Q: How far is the host hotel from the festival's main activities?
A: ABFF's daytime activities primarily take place at the festival's host hotel with the exception of the film screenings which take place at the Colony Theater and Miami Beach Cinematheque, which are both within a 15 minute walking distance from the host hotel. ABFF's nightly entertainment is also in close proximity with no event being more than a quick taxi ride away. Taxi fares vary between approximately $8 and $40, with $40 being the cost from Miami International Airport to South Beach.
Q: Which is the closest airport to ABFF?
A: Miami International Airport is the closest airport to the festival being approximately 20 minutes away.
Q: How should I dress during the festival?
A: During the summer months, Miami is very humid although all of our indoor venues have good air conditioning systems. We recommend that you dress casually and comfortably by day and dress up for evening events. Please check out our Photo Gallery for a sense of how the festival audience looks.

Q: Is there a fee to submit my film?
A: YES. ABFF's submission fee is $50 per film.
Q: Does my film have to be a world premiere?
A: NO but films with world premiere status receive priority consideration.
Q: Does the ABFF have a late deadline?
A: NO. Films must be received at the ABFF's New York office by no later than the deadline specified for the section into which you are entering.

Q: Does my film have to be a world premiere?
A: YES with no prior public screenings (with the exception of a film's screened in association with student enrolled in an accredited University program or participation in a Guild related showcase)
Q: Regarding the maximum length of a short being 20 minutes...does that include onscreen credits? Are any exceptions made to this rule?
A: Your film must not exceed 20 minutes in length, including all credits. No exceptions are made to this rule.
Q: Does the ABFF have a late deadline?
A: NO. Films must be received at the ABFF's New York office by no later than the deadline specified for the section into which you are entering.
Q: Can I submit a documentary film to the HBO Short Film Competition?
A: NO but you can submit it to the ABFF's Documentary Section if your film is a minimum of 30 minutes in lenght. Films for the HBO Short Film Competition must be narrative stories that are live action or animation.
