{"id":10811,"date":"2018-03-15T13:23:11","date_gmt":"2018-03-15T17:23:11","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.abff.com\/?page_id=10811"},"modified":"2018-04-03T12:10:33","modified_gmt":"2018-04-03T16:10:33","slug":"turner-tv-writing-contest","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/abff.com\/archive\/2018\/turner-tv-writing-contest\/","title":{"rendered":"ABFF Turner TV Writing Contest"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1>ABFF<sup>&#174;<\/sup> Turner TV Writing Contest<\/h1>\r\n\r\n<p class=\"lead-red\">Submissions are closed for 2018.<\/p>\r\n\r\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/abff.com\/archive\/2018\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/2018-Turner-Writing-Contest.jpg\" alt=\"Turner Writing Contest\" width=\"814\" height=\"436\" \/>\r\n\r\n<p class=\"submissions\">ABFF is excited to announce the launch of the 2018 American Black Film Festival Turner TV Writing Contest designed to shine a spotlight on diverse writers who are invited to submit an original pilot script in comedy or drama categories.<\/p>\r\n\r\n<p class=\"submissions\">Together, Turner and ABFF will select five comedy finalists and five drama finalists, and one winner in each category will receive a trip for themselves and a guest to the 2018 American Black Film Festival in Miami from June 13-17, 2018, where they will receive an award before the festival audience which will include a cash prize of $500, and the opportunity to meet with Turner Original Programming executives.<\/p>\r\n\r\n<p class=\"submissions\">Please review general submission guidelines below, along with the official rules.<\/p>\r\n\r\n<p class=\"instruction-subheads\">Entrants must:<\/p>\r\n\r\n\t<div class=\"submission-lists\">\r\n\t\t<ul class=\"criteria-bullets\">\r\n\t\t\t<li>Be members of a diverse or underrepresented community<\/li>\r\n\t\t\t<li>Submit an original pilot script (drama or comedy) suitable for adaptation into a television program, and a one (1) page plot summary of the script. Note: drama scripts should be 55-60 pages in length and comedy scripts should be 30-35 pages in length.<\/li>\r\n\t\t\t<li>Submit headshot, one (1) page bio and one (1) page resume.<\/li>  \r\n\t\t\t<li>Read, complete, and sign the submission agreement.<\/li>\r\n\t\t\t<li>Submit within the submission period: <strong><span class=\"blue\">March 16, 2018 to April 2, 2018<\/span><\/strong><\/li>\r\n\t\t<\/ul>\r\n\t<\/div>\r\n\r\n<p class=\"submissions\"><strong>Please note: only the first 250 submissions will be accepted for review.<\/strong><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"ABFF&#174; Turner TV Writing Contest Submissions are closed for 2018.
