NBC HOSTING WORKSHOP

NBCUniversal Entertainment & Lifestyle Group in partnership with the American Black Film Festival will produce its 5th Annual Hosting Workshop 2019 at this year’s ABFF in Miami! This workshop is designed to cultivate & discover exceptional host talent. Taught by premier host instructor, Barbara Abel, this workshop is targeted for intermediate and advanced level hosts who want to sharpen their hosting skills and techniques!

WORKSHOP FOCUS

  • Enhance your on-camera performance, and reading & writing copy
  • Strengthen co-hosting, teleprompter and auditioning skills
  • Learn invaluable tips for your career!

WORKSHOP OPPORTUNITIES

Top Select Participant(s):

  • Receive the opportunity to conduct media and/or celebrity interviews during the ABFF 2019
  • Meet with NBCUniversal Talent Executives
  • ALL participants will receive one (1) SOBE Pass credential to the festival.

HOW TO APPLY

  1. Select TWO host scripts to perform and videotape: click to download.
  2. Click on and complete the Hosting Workshop Application to upload your host reel and self-taped video entry according to the provided instructions.
  3. Applicants MUST also submit a reel of their previous host work (previous host experience may include, but not limited to: digital, TV and live events).

WORKSHOP DATE

  • Wednesday, June 12 (9am – 2pm)

APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Applicants must be a minimum of 21 years of age, and permanent, legal United States residents.
  • Applicants must be available to participate in the workshop in Miami on June 12, 2019.
  • Applicants must be able to provide their own housing and transportation to Miami for the duration of the workshop. (NOTE: You do not need to be based in Miami to be considered)

SUBMISSION DATES

  • Submissions Open: March 14, 2019
  • Submissions Deadline: April 12, 2019
  • Notify Participants By: May 3, 2019

* Please note: This workshop is not for beginners, but for participants with some host experience already under their belt. We are looking for candidates drawing upon diverse backgrounds.
